Fall From Far Perspectives

We don’t always need to travel miles to witness fall’s colors.

Sometimes the season is right beside us—quiet, familiar, waiting to be noticed.

How do animals see this shift of light and leaves?

Or is the beauty of fall a feeling that belongs only to human hearts?

The Accidental Sunflower

While we were wishing for bitter gourd, a different magic unfolded.

From a stray seed in the birdfeeder, a sunflower rose on the patio

a gift we never asked for, yet life offered anyway.

And with it came our uninvited guest, the little squirrel,

nibbling, curious, claiming the feeder as its own.

Some blessings arrive without request,

some visitors without invitation..

and still, we smile and make room for them.

 

The Bitter Gourd - A Summer Story

When we desire something deeply, the universe quietly conspires.

From the scraps of a curry, Suganthi pressed a few bitter-gourd seeds into the soil

and like a small summer miracle, every seed awakened.

First sprouts, then shy flowers,

then the tender green fruits - one, two… suddenly many.

The vine curled like a baby’s finger, reaching, trusting, growing.

But summer softens into fall.

The plant withers, leaving behind seeds for another season.

Its final roots—tangled, honest—mirror the complexity of our own lives.

The bitter gourd lived, gave, and let go.

So do we. Life is beautiful, but never permanent.

Captured on the BDU hostel rooftop, this photo perfectly blends sunlight with fresh leaves for a moment of pure joy.

BDU is a paradise when viewed through the lens of colors and light!

My favorite bird at BDU. The Rufous Treepie (Dendrocitta vagabunda). It belongs to the Corvidae (crow) family!! 

At BDU, this bird’s evening calls of 'Ku li ling' and its distant response are a common and delightful sight near the hostels and Physics building.

     I am not sure if this is a mosquito or moth, but I spent hours zooming in to capture its tail vibrating like protein side chains.

Blue-tailed Bee-eaters in my campus. Although taken with a point-and-shoot camera, the bird's cuteness is captured beautifully.

Termites in action! This photo was taken around 6 a.m. at BDU. I was amazed by their social behavior and teamwork.

In Chitrakoot, I captured a male sparrow and was thrilled to find the female in the frame too—truly a delightful surprise!
